Overview

Ecological modeling is a way of using mathematics, computer simulations, and other methods to simulate and analyze the dynamics of living ecosystems. By using this approach, scientists and land managers can better understand how species interact with each other and with their environment, as well as how different human activities affect the natural environment. Ecological modeling is an important tool for conservation, management and prediction of changes in ecosystems, and can be used to evaluate and compare the effects of different management strategies or predicted climate change scenarios.
